Introducing the Friulana shoe

The Quiet Italian Icon

The Friulana: An Italian Classic

The tradition of Friulane footwear dates back to the 1800s and began as celebration shoes worn by peasant families in Friuli, a region in Northeast Italy. They were stitched entirely by hand from whatever materials were available: fabric scraps, grain sacks, even bicycle tires.

Over time, their soft, silent, practical design moved through every layer of Italian life, from countryside rituals to aristocratic salons and Venetian gondolas, becoming a quiet signature of the region.

The Friulana has survived for centuries for a simple reason: it adapts. It crossed fields, canals, palaces, and cobblestones without losing its ease or its charm.

At Due Lune, this tradition is reinterpreted with contemporary lines, rich color, and a modern sense of ease, staying true to what has made Friulane beloved for generations: comfort, craft, and understated elegance.

Wearable Italian Culture

Due Lune was created to bring the elegance, color, and sensibility of Italian heritage into a contemporary rhythm.

The brand reinterprets cultural icons for today, giving them cleaner lines, richer palettes, and an instinctive sense of self-expression, always grounded in comfort and craft.

Due Lune’s pieces are designed with a lived-in sensibility: crafted with intention, imagined for longevity.

Each silhouette blends cultural memory with modern ease, creating shoes that feel personal, expressive, and quietly carry Italian elegance in every step.

Handmade in Friuli, Italy

Each pair of Due Lune shoes is crafted by artisans in Friuli who carry forward techniques passed down through generations.

Hand-finishing and traditional stitching techniques ensure authenticity and durability. Every detail is intentional. No shortcuts, only the quiet precision of Italian craft.

Each upper is sewn using more than 1,200 small stitches that create flexibility and lasting comfort. Layers of reinforced fabric and recycled rubber form a base that bends naturally with the foot. The upper and sole are joined through the traditional punto strega, a curved seam executed entirely by hand.

Artisans select materials for comfort, durability, and character, allowing each pair to feel subtly unique, a reflection of the hands that made it.

This is not mass production. This is cultural preservation, carefully reimagined for today.

Two Women, One Vision

Giulia and Elena were born in Friuli, Italy, a region where craft, culture, and beauty are woven into everyday life.

They later met in New York, where a shared connection to their origins inspired them to create Due Lune, a brand that brings the understated elegance of Italian tradition into the present.

Their vision is simple: to design pieces that feel authentic, intelligent, and unforced. Shoes that move with you, wherever life takes you.
